Year 4 Science

This term in year 4, for our Science topic we have been looking at different states of matter.

In our recent lesson, we looked at how we know the difference between solids, liquids and gases.

In our science lesson, we learnt it was all because of how the particles moved around. In our learning, we discussed how solids have a fixed shape, liquids take the shape of their container and gases have no fixed shape.

We looked first at what the particles do in these different states, then we showed how they move around.

We first looked at how solids have a fixed shape, they do not move in their container.

We then looked at liquids, these do move or flow in their container, moving past each other.

With gases, these zoom around not stopping for other particles.
