Year 4 enjoyed their Victorian immersion day at the beginning of last week. A huge thank you to the parents and carers who helped their children dress up - there was an amazing selection of dressing up including traditional Victorian clothing (poor and rich) as well as notable Victorian figures.
Some of the activities they took part in included:
- Investigating how transport has revolutionised since the Victorian times
- Looking around the Manor Way building (built in 1903) and the Lodge building (built in 2018) and finding features of near-Victorian architecture vs modern architecture
- Building upon their trip to the London Ragged School, they worked in groups to create dioramas of Victorian classrooms, thinking about how schools have changed over the last 200 years
- Trying out jobs and games that Victorian children would have completed around the home including washing using a washboard and mangle, beating carpets and playing hoop rolling.
