Year 2- Web Quest!

This half term, Year 2 have been making string instruments as part of a Design Technology project. To go alongside our project, the children have undertaken a web quest to create a whole class fact file on string instruments. So far, the children have learnt what a string instrument is. What a string instrument looks like, the name of some common string  instruments and how string instruments are played. I wonder what else we'll find out as we continue our quest!

DT in Year 2- Hinges, Hinges Everywhere!

In the next few weeks, Year 2 will be making string instruments complete with an instrument stand that features a hinge. As part of the design process the children learnt about hinges and then identified them in the classroom. We finished off the lesson by attempting to make a simple hinge from paper and card.

Year 6 Mini Chef

This week, Elder Class put their fantastic cooking skills to use and worked really hard to produce a delicious dish to sell. When choosing what to cook, they considered seasonality and food miles before selecting a vegetarian Lancashire hotpot. Everyone who was lucky enough to buy a portion agreed that it made a fantastic and healthy meal. Well done Elder!
