Spanish lessons are making Year 4 feel very hungry..........

To celebrate World Book Day this month and link with our current Spanish topic of fruit and healthy eating, Year 4 are currently using the Spanish story La Pequeña Oruga Glotona by Eric Carle as a stimulus for our learning.

So far we have been learning some common fruits and learning some key vocabulary to help us follow the story, then we followed the text using our reading and listening skills to complete sorting and ordering activities in groups.

Here's a video you can watch to follow the story yourselves.

Our next lessons will include sorting vocabulary using our grammar knowledge and revising our knowledge of numbers and plurals.

Remember that Linguascope has a whole section on La Fruta which you can be using at home to revise the key vocabulary for our Spanish topic this term!

Le Français dans le fôret!

Year 4 had the opportunity to experience a dictionary skills lessons outside in our amazing Forest School area last week. In groups they searched the space to find French words for healthy food items, then worked together to find translations in the dictionary.

"It was great to take our learning outside and get to move about a lot"

La chenille que fait des trous - Year 4 French storytime

This term Year 4 have been using their French topic of Food and Healthy Eating to explore language used in a famous children's story by Eric Carle - The Very Hungry Caterpillar, which in French is actually titled La chenille qui fait des trous.

The children used the story to revise days of the week, practise some of the fruits they have been learning and look at more vocabulary linked to food and discuss the gender of nouns.

You can listen and read along to the story here:

Year 4 learning with Linguascope

This week Year 4 used Ipads and headsets to create their own language lab-style lessons. They worked in pairs to learn vocabulary for Snacks linked to their food topic, by playing games that practise listening, speaking, reading and writing skills. We also discussed whether the vocabulary represented snacks which were healthy or not.

Remember - all children at Bannockburn have access to Linguascope App and website for further home learning , so ask your teacher for the most up-to-date login details.
