Year 4 PE - Gymnastics

In Year 4, we have been learning gymnastics. In our first session we learnt about balancing on different amounts of body parts and in our following lesson we tried out different rolls. We are beginning to combine them and will develop a gymnastic sequence that reflects a volcano eruption.

Year 5 Dance

Year 5 are busy creating sequences of dance linked to the emotions felt by the characters in The Boy at the Back of the Class by Onjali Q. Raúf.

Yesterday, Maple class focused on the 'arrival' scene; they expressed the emotions that the protagonist would have felt arriving at her new school.

The groups showed exceptional teamwork and generated thought-provoking dances.

Diwali Dance Workshop - Year 5

 Diwali Dance

Last half term, the Year 5 students enjoyed a visit from the West End in Schools company. The company worked with the children, teaching them about the story of Diwali and why it is a sacred festival.

Afterwards, the children worked with the company to create a dance which demonstrated what they'd learnt.

The children particularly enjoyed this visit as their PE topic was dance and it related to their future learning of Hinduism and Sikhism in RE.
