Reception- Handa's Surprise

As part of our learning linked to Handa's Surprise, the children drew observational drawings of the fruits in Handa's basket. They identified the initial sound of each fruit and wrote the letter next to the drawings.

To help us retell Handa's Surprise we drew and created our own story maps.

Look at us Write!

In Reception we have been learning a lot of phonics sounds. We have practised using them to read and write words. Sometimes we use plastic letters to help remember how to form each one correctly.

Reception Gymnasts

This term in PE we are going to making our bodies stronger by balancing, jumping and stretching. We will be pretending that we are little gymnasts and putting together a sequence of movements while working individually and in groups.

Look at our moves!

HIGH LOW FAST SLOW, Reception Music

Reception have been listening and reacting to music with the way they move. The show how slow or fast the music is with their feet. The hear high sounds and jump in air. They hear low sounds and touch the floor. Today, they made the material move in time to the music, and showed loud and quiet with it.

Reception - Walk to the beat

Can you keep your feet in time?

After playing short and long sounds, quiet and loud sounds, Reception have been learning to keep the beat on their shaker instruments. We have a walking song that can go fast or slow - sometimes there's a puddle to jump in.

Today we kept our beat in our feet as we walked around the circle for the other children to follow.  We could go slow or fast, but we had to keep our feet even.

Ask us to sing our walking song for you!

Fast. Slow. Short. Long. Reception Music!

Reception Music.

In Reception we have been using shakers to learn about different sounds.

When we shake them fast - they play loud. When we play them slow - they play quiet.

We were conductors - using a piece of material to lead the rest of the class! We made short, and long sounds. We made loud and quiet sounds.
