Timelines in Reception

 In Reception we have been thinking about time. Time over the year, week and a day. We used words such as yesterday, today and tomorrow as well past and present. To help us we created timelines that showed all of the things we need to do before come to school in the morning. 

Year 3 - Measuring Time

This week in Mathematics, Year 3 estimated and measured time taken for different events. They worked in groups of 3 to estimate the time taken to do 10 star jumps, 10 hops, 5 burpees, 5 jump reaches and 5 lunges. 

We love Linguascope!

Last week, as a link to our topic about daily life, in Year 6 we spent our French lesson on the ipads using Linguascope. We focused on learning how to recognise times in French and looked for links to our Maths to help us understand how they structure their telling the time phrases in French. We enjoyed playing the games as always!

Time and timetables in Maple, Year 5

Recently Year 5 have been practising their understanding of time and the practical uses of it in day to day life. Here you can see Maple tree class working in pairs to solve problems related to a school timetable or daily routine.

This week in Maths we have been looking at, among other things, time. We started by thinking about the different things that we do throughout the day and at what times we did them, before looking at the features of a clock. 

We then looked at o'clock times, where the minute and hour hands go. We even made our own times! Take a look at our awesome achievements below...

Yera 5 Linden Class - Stars in our Eyes - Visit to The Royal Observatory, Greenwich

This week Linden visited The Royal Observatory at Greenwich to find out more about the Stars and Planets for our Space topic this term.  We learnt about this history of time keeping and the importance of the Greenwich Meridian Line in our world. We even got to stand across the Meridian line and hop between the Eastern and Western hemispheres! We also visited the Planetarium where we watched an incredible show teaching us all about astronomy, astrology and space exploration history. We also were fortunate enough to see some amazing examples of space photography - we found the images so interesting and inspiring! To infinity and beyond!........

Year 2 - They are finally making a movie about clocks. It's about time!

This week, Beech class have been learning all about time.

We began by making our very own clocks.

We used these clocks to help us learn all about o clock, half past, quarter past and quarter to. We even learnt how to tell the time in 5 minute intervals.

After lots of practice, we made a giant whole class clock and made up different times altogether!

What a good time we had :)

Year 2 Cedar Class - 6:30 is the best time on a clock, hands down.

This week Cedar Tree class have been learning about time. We made our own clocks to help us tell the time, such o'clock, quarter past, half past and quarter to. We learnt how to tell the time to 5 minute intervals and the difference between the minute and hour hands.
