Year 2 - Life Cycle of a Butterfly

During our Science lessons Year 2 have been learning all about life cycles. To support the children's understanding of this we bought some caterpillars. Each class named a caterpillar and over the last few weeks the children have watched Mike, Betty, Pat, Nancy and Norman change from caterpillars to chrysalis and finally into butterflies. 

We were very lucky that two of our butterflies emerged right before our eyes in the middle of an English lesson! 

On Friday we released the butterflies into the wild where they will hopefully start the life cycle all over again! 

Year 5 - Life cycles

In Year 5, we have started our learning about Life Cycles by learning about the main stages of a human's life. We will soon be investigating the life cycles of amphibians, insects and plants.

Manor War Gardening Team are GO GO GO!

At Manor Way this week, some members of the Gardening team (one of our 16 Community Partnership Leader groups) spent an afternoon planting bedding plants and flowers that were donated to us from the gardening team at Greenwich Park.

We planted them in the long strip of ground between the Lodge and the astroturf, and took turns in our small groups to dig the earth, plant the flowers and fill in the holes, whilst also feeding them a little drink of water to start them off nicely hydrated.

Baby Alexander visits Year 2!

Today Year 2 welcomed a baby in to the classroom!

Luckily, Mrs Manser came with him. She came in to answer some of our questions about the human life cycle to help us to understand more about how we grow and change.

Baby Alexander was very well behaved!
