Poplar Y4 - Back to School

A HUGE Welcome Back to all the children who have returned to school! It has been so nice to see you over the last few days.

Year 4 Poplar class have made a great start - asking thoughtful questions about the changes we have in school and following the new rules that are in place.

On Friday, we enjoyed taking part in a STEM challenge making Robotic Hands! Miss Bethell was impressed with our perseverance and determination when attempting to put the materials together to make the hand move.

¡Feliz año nuevo! - Spanish New Year Traditions in Ms Espinar's clubs

For the first week of Spanish, Pen Pals and Multilingual Clubs, all run by Ms Espinar, they had the chance to experience the Spanish New Year tradition of "Doce Uvas". 

Traditionally, as the clock chimes at midnight on New Years Eve, Spanish friends and families who are celebrating together, each will attempt to eat 12 grapes, 1 grape at a time, in time to the 12 chimes of the clock. Each grape symbolises good luck for each month of the coming year.

Pictured are our Year 5/6 Spanish club, intensely watching the clock to eat their grapes on time.

PenPals club also reviewed the activity:

Oliver - "I think this tradition is a very crazy tradition and is hard to do but very fun."

Petra - "Now I have 12 months of good luck because I managed to eat all mine!"
