Year 2 investigate... GERMS!

This week, Year 2 have begun to investigate germs as part of our healthy living science topic. We want to understand how germs and bacteria are spread and whether washing your hands with soap and water really works to reduce the spread!

Method.

1. We placed our unwashed hands over one piece of bread and the sealed it in a zip lock bag.

2. We then thoroughly washed our hands with soap and water before touching the next piece bread and again placing it in a sealed zip lock bag.

3. Our third piece of bread is our 'control' bread. This piece was handled with a glove on and did not touch our hands at all, again placing it in a sealed zip lock bag.

We will monitor the bread for changes and see if we can answer our questions next week!

Year 2 FIREWORKS in Music

KAPOW!  BOOM!  BANG!  ZOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!

Year 2 have been working hard on beat and rhythm in music this term. The children have been reading rhythm patterns to stamp, and clap - as well as drumming on the table. They completed 2 or more rhythms at the same time AND have started to compose their own 2 bar rhythms.

Later this term they are getting an online visit from out friends at the London Symphony Orchestra and will be making up a piece of music about fireworks.  They have listened to music performed by the LSO on LSO PLAY and have been discussing it using musical vocabulary.

Can you read some of our rhythms?

Hello again Year 2!

We are really missing teaching you in school but want to say a BIG thank you to all of the children who have been working on their weekly tasks.

You are all SUPER home learning HEROES!

Below are some of this week's completed learning tasks. We would love to share all of your tasks but there are sometimes just too many! Keep sending your work in and your teacher will email you a reply.

I wonder if he made it through in one piece!

We are looking forward to welcoming some Year 2's back to school this week. Miss Bennett will be looking after you!

Speak to you all soon,
Miss Bethell, Miss Haigh, Miss Hoadley and Mr Voke
