Troll Wanted!

Year One are looking for a troll! On returning to school on Monday, Year One found some strange things! We found some broken chairs, enormous footprints, equipment all over the playground and even green slime on the doors! We received a message to say a troll had been spotted in another school and asked us to help them to find it. We have been thinking about how to create a wanted poster to ask others for help. We have made our own trolls, read the story Three Billy Goats Gruff and made props to help us retell the story and thought of lots of adjectives to describe trolls to use in our writing next week.

Let us know if you see the troll!

Year 3 English - 'Frost Dragons'

In English this week, we explored our new text 'The Kingston Frost Dragon' and discussed unfamiliar vocabulary. We then worked in pairs to create our own Kingston Frost Dragon using a template, materials and the model extract.

At the end of our sequence, we are planning to write our own fictional information encyclopaedia entry based on a mythical creature of our choice.

Building a Canal in Year 4

In English, Year 4 have been reading a text called, Are Canals Dangerous? Howeverfirst we had to know what a canal is. We did some research and studied images carefully so we understood their purpose. Then it was time to build!

We put our engineering skills and our communication skills to the test and worked out how to build a canal that was straight and kept the land surrounding it dry! We even tested our canal using small boats to check that they could float along it easily.
