P.E - Dance - Year 2

This half term, Year 2 are exploring dance within P.E. To tie in with our topic, Year 2 have been learning different dancing techniques and exploring how we can move our body in different ways to represent the life cycle of a plant.

Year 2 'Battle of the Wraps' - Making and Evaluating

The children in year 2 finally made their wraps using the skills they had learnt last week. Once the children had made and tasted their wrap, they then evaluated their product considering whether they had hit their design brief and thought about how they could improve it. 

Year 2 'Battle of the Wraps' - Food Technology

This week, Year 2 are taking part in 'Battle of the Wraps' as part of our Food Technology learning. Today, we looked at what hidden sugars are and how we find the nutritional value on packaging. We will use this information to help us prepare for making a healthy lunch later in the week. 

Making Music for Animals - Year 2

This week, Year 2 have been making music for different purposes. As part of the lesson, we had to make a musical piece to represent an animal. We used Chrome Music Maker Lab. 

Acer-Sports Day!

 Acer Tree had a fantastic morning during the Year 2 Sports Day. Here are some photos of the games and races we took part in!

All about explorers - Ibn Battuta -Year 2

 This half term, Year 2 are learning about explorers. So far we have learnt about Neil Armstrong and Mae Jemison. During today's lesson we explored one of the earliest explorers, Ibn Battuta. We learnt that his love of travel started when he embarked on a pilgrimage to Mecca and continued to travel for 30 years! Once we learnt some key facts about Battuta, we then compared his pilgrimage with that of Miss Barnett's. We compared how long it took them, how they documented their travels and how transport has changed over time.

 

 

Number confidence in Year 2

 

This week in Maths Year 2 have been recapping many different strategies for addition. We worked together to choose different items from our 'class shop' and add them together using different strategies and resources to support us.

We have gained even more confidence when adding addends together and we have enjoyed working together with our shoulder partners and groups.
