Year 2- Web Quest!

This half term, Year 2 have been making string instruments as part of a Design Technology project. To go alongside our project, the children have undertaken a web quest to create a whole class fact file on string instruments. So far, the children have learnt what a string instrument is. What a string instrument looks like, the name of some common string  instruments and how string instruments are played. I wonder what else we'll find out as we continue our quest!

Computing in Year 4 Ash Class – Autumn 2 PowerPoint

Computing in Year 4 Ash Class – Autumn 2 PowerPoints

During Autumn 2, Year 4 have been learning how to create a Microsoft PowerPoint presentation to demonstrate their working knowledge of the importance of e-safety.

In this afternoon’s lesson we explored the exciting features the software has and focused on changing the design of PowerPoint so that it was as eye-catching and engaging as possible. Having learnt how to add a title, sub-title and text to our slides, it was exciting to look at this fun aspect of PowerPoint and get creative with different colours and text fonts.

As you can see, we are very proud of how professional our first slides look!

Computing Year One

Children were introduced to the subject of computing. Last week they learned that about different types of instructions and the importance of giving them to a partner in the correct order. This week they learned about the instructions to make a Bee-bot toy move. They learned that a list of instructions is called an algorithm. Children really enjoyed exploring with the Bee-bots.

Have you seen Mrs Seeranj's shopping list?

Over the past two days we have been doing some shopping for Mrs Seeranj who lost her shopping list!

We were given a budget of £10 and went on an online supermarket to order some items. We made a record of the items and their costs and added them all up to find the total cost.

We then calculated what change we would receive from the shop if we paid with a £10 note. With the change, we went back to the shop and bought Mrs Seeranj a treat!

Creating algorithms in Year 3

In Computing this half term, Year 3 are learning all about algorithms and coding.

We began by combining our learning from PE with Computing to create a simple sequence of dance steps. We then created our own algorithms from the dance sequence.

We incorporated turns, jumps, left and right, forward and backwards movements and below are some photos to show your what we made.

Year 2- Virtual Reality!
