Achievement Assemblies Today

Here are some photos of children who were recognised for making some great choices in school this week.

Computing with Year 1 Lime Class

Year 1 Lime Class enjoyed their Computing lesson this week as they explored what a search engine is using the iPads.

As a class we discussed what a search engine is and most of the children were able to tell me that Google was a search engine and could identify the Google Chrome icon at the bottom of the page.

Before we started exploring, we discussed the importance of staying safe on the internet, therefore we used Kiddle, which is a search engine and online encyclopedia emphasising safety for young children. The class were shown how to type Kiddle into the search bar and how to load it.

In Geography, we have been learning about homes, so as a class we typed homes into the search engine and clicked on the image tab at the top. We loved seeing the different types of homes all around the world.

When it was the children's time to explore, they really enjoyed looking at topics that are of interest to them. These included space, wild animals, dinosaurs, the jungle and transport. Lime Tree were very sensible when exploring the iPads and were able to use the search engine independently.

Keith Haring Stamping - Year 5

Year 5 have been practising their skills in stamp making, using Keith Haring's art as inspiration.

Keith Haring was an American artist in the 1980s who was influenced by cartoons and pop art. Throughout his career, Haring devoted much of his time to public works, which often carried social messages. Sadly, he died aged just 31. However, his messages of love, acceptance and humour are enjoyed by many people today.

We made our stamps using polystyrene and card, and found that bright coloured ready mixed paint gave the best effect.

Nursery: Acorn Class get to grips with pencils

We have had a very busy week in Nursery Acorn Class!

Amongst the hustle and bustle of the Nursery day, we took the opportunity to have a go at holding pencils and tracing along some patterns.

It's important that we have lots of opportunities to work with mark making tools. Take a look at some of us doing this below...

Year 2 French - Les Couleurs

 Bonjour!

This afternoon in Year 2 Beech Class we have been learning the colours in French!

Some children even attempted to write a French sentence about what item has the same colour.

Jaune - C'est la colour du bananne.

Bleu - C'est la colour du Ciel.

Year 2 Christmas Sneak Peek!

This week Year 2 have been busy dusting off their acting and singing skills to create a Christmas show extravaganza!

Here are some photos to give you a festive sneak peek!

Year 3 - Learning about the Emergency Services

Do I know who to speak to when I am concerned or upset?

This week in PSHE, we were learning about the different emergency services that we have access to in our local area.

We also looked at the importance of knowing how to contact different emergency services such as the police, ambulance and fire brigade when an incident occurs.

As a class, we also discussed the roles that each of the services have in society and how they can help us in times of need.
