Hawthorn Mini Chef

On Friday, Hawthorn class in Year 5 used their expert food technology skills to make a World War Two vegetable pie. It was popular in the 1940's due to rationing.

World War 2 in Year 5

This half term, Year 5 have been learning about World War Two.

The children have really enjoyed learning about how the world has changed due to what happened about 80 years ago. It has been particularly interesting learning about the importance of the Royal Arsenal at Woolwich and why our local area was bombed so much during the Blitz.

On Immersion Day, they built Anderson Shelters, practiced diving for cover when the air raid sirens sounded,  performed WW2 poetry, sang British WW2 songs and learned some basic German.
