This week, Year 2 have been learning about 2D shapes. We can name and identify 2D shapes and can now identify quadrilaterals and regular and irregular polygons. Take a look at us creating own own regular and irregular polygons below.

Year 4 - Problem-Solving - Act it out STOPS
In year 4, our Maths session was based on problem-solving. We had to solve a problem about 36 people who lived in 8 caravans. Each caravan had a different amount of people and each line of the caravans added up to 15. We used counters and cubes to help us solve the problem. We found it challenging at first but once we understood how to begin to solve the problem we really enjoyed it.
Year 4 - Multiplying and dividing by 10, 100, 1000
In Maths this week, we have been practising how to multiply and divide by 10, 100, 1000. We used place value columns and digit cards to help us. We found these resources really helpful as we could see the direction and spaces the digits of a number move when multiplying or dividing by 10, 100 or 1000.

Year 3 - Addition and Subtraction
In Maths, Year 3 took part in a fun True or False activity where they had to move addition and subtraction number statements to either true or false and explain their reasoning to why it is true or false. This helped them understand that addition is commutative and subtraction is not.

Year 2 Maths Week
Maths Week in Year 2
In Year 2, our theme for Maths Week is 'The Power of 2'.
Our topic was based on Symmetry in 2D shapes and we discussed how to find lines of symmetry in shapes.
For our main activity, we completed a range of tasks that were linked to finding symmetry across a range of puzzles and shapes.

Maths Week in Year 3- doubling and halving
For Maths Week in Year 3, we were learning all about doubling and halving!
Here are the rules so you can play the game at home:
Double
or Halve? This is a game for two players. You will need a dice (1-6 or 0-9) How to play: Decide on a target number from 0-100. This
is the total that both players are trying to make. Player 1 throws the dice. They can choose
whether to double the number shown or halve the number shown. Player 2 throws the dice. In the same way,
they can choose whether to double the number shown or halve the number shown.
Player 2 adds their number onto Player 1's number to make a running total. Play continues like this with each player
rolling the dice, halving or doubling the number, and adding the result onto
the running total. The winner is the player who reaches the
agreed target exactly. |

Year 4 visit the 'Puzzling Sweet Shop'
This week in Maths, we
looked at using addition and subtraction of 2 and 3-digit numbers in a real
life scenario. We used our model money to support us to look at how many different
ways we could spend our budget on sweets! Taking a trip to the ‘Puzzling Sweet
Shop’ showed us the importance of working systematically to accurately find
different addition possibilities.

Year 2 solve number sentences!
In Maths, we carried out problem solving and reasoning questions to add 3 one digit numbers. We sorted the number sentences into doubles or number bonds in order to complete the number sentences. Take a look!

Year 2- Problem Solving and Reasoning
Year 2 worked hard last week with some brain boggling Maths problems! Over the past few weeks we have been learning about place value and ended our topic by completing some problem solving challenges. Take a look at us hard at work!
