Year 2 trip to the Mandir

This week, Year 2 took a trip to a local Hindu Mandir. As part of our 'Celebrations' topic in RE, we got to learn about important Hindu celebrations and how the gods and goddesses play an important part within these.

Y4 Visit the Local Hindu Temple

 

Last week, Year 4 visited the local Hindu Temple on Bannockburn Road. We have been learning about the Hindu religion and were able to witness a prayer.

The talk was led by two local ladies, who very kindly told us about 5 key festivals in the Hindu calendar, including Holi and Diwali.

We have learnt about Rahma and Sita in our RE lessons and today we got to see them at the temple.

As a sign of respect, we took our shoes off before entering the temple.

The priest says a prayer at 10am and 7pm everyday. He is the only person allowed to handle any of the statues.
