Leaf printing in Year 6

This week, Year 6 have been continuing their embroidery project.

After finalising their leaf design last week, children created a symmetrical stencil of their leaf. Once happy with their design, the children then worked in groups of 4 to print their design on fabric using the silk print press; they used a mixture of paint and ink and mixed their own paint to achieve their chosen colour.

Their designs are now ready to embroider next week!

Watch this space to see the finished pieces - they're going to be great!

Human Form - Art in Year 2

We started this week exploring the human form in Art.

With a partner, we worked together to create different letters of the alphabet. We then moved our learning on by thinking about how to create body parts from plasticine. We used techniques such as, rolling, pinching, twisting and squeezing.

Take a look of some of our sculptures below.

Apple Class Artists

Art for Arts Weeks

The theme for our Arts Weeks this year is 'Wonderful World of Knowledge'

Apple Class have been given the subject 'Art'. To introduce the subject, we looked at various famous paintings and discussed what we liked and disliked about them. We talked about how there is no wrong or right in Art and how we can all have a differing opinions. It was also mentioned that Art is all around us and you can visit galleries to see lots of different Art all in one place.

Apple Class have started their own Art gallery within our classroom, celebrating our own pieces of Art using a variety of different media.
