Year 2 - Visit to the Royal Observatory at Greenwich

Year 2 visited the Greenwich Royal Observatory to learn about Explorers. We learnt about the Earth's axis and why we have seasons. We got to explore Greenwich park and look at all the equipment scientists use to research and investigate space!

Year 1 - Lego Workshop

This week Damson, Juniper, Lemon and Lime have had a special Lego workshop in Year 1 to complement our theme of Marvellous Machines.

We first constructed two villages, including houses, stations, docks and airports. We then set about connecting them by road, rail, river and sky using a variety of cunning contraptions.

It was a fantastic opportunity to let our imaginations run wild and some of our Lego creations were truly spectacular!

Counting and Singing the French numbers in Year 2

This week Year 2 have been practising learning their numbers from 1-20 by singing this catchy song by Alain le Lait from YouTube.

Have a go for yourself and see if you can join in and learnt them!

What patterns do you notice?

Reception - Roots to Food rocks!

Today we had the delight of welcoming Darren, a Roots to Food representative, into the High Street site.

The day began with a thoroughly interesting assembly, where we found out about the different food groups and where we get all of our energy from.

From there, we took part in smaller group sessions, where we got our hearts pumping through moving, shaking and jumping activities.

We listened carefully as we learnt about our own portion sizes and how many portions of fruit and vegetables we needed each day to keep fit and healthy.

Finally, we replenished our energy reserves with scrumptious banana shakes. What fun!

ShoeShare fundraising with Clarks and UNICEF - collection day

This week Clarks (the shoe shop) sent a delivery driver to the Manor Way site to pick up the record number of shoes that we collected as part of our fundraising for International Education Week.

Some children from the International, Rights Respecting and Fundraising Teams were drafted in to help get the bags in the van - in the end, we had to get extra recruits in to help load up!

Again, well done and thanks to everyone who brought in their old, unwanted shoes and in an email to me they have said they too are 'extremely grateful.'

Achievement Assembly at Manor Way

Congratulations to all those children who were celebrated in Friday's Achievement Assembly on the Manor Way site.

Always Club at Manor Way - Den Building in the Forest School

Year 4 children were invited in to Forest School for this week's Always Club on the Manor Way site.

They braved the chilly November air to look for suitable bits of wood to use to make a den.

The children decided that some wooden pallets would make perfect walls for the structure. To make sure they were stable, they slid small sticks between the wooden slats to lock them together.

Once the walls were sturdy, the children found longer sticks and branches to lay over the top of the walls to provide a roof and to help brace the walls.

Once completed, the children enjoyed some hot chocolate inside their den!
