Aviva Community Fund - We Need Your Help!

Bannockburn is currently applying for additional funding through the Aviva Community Fund.

What is the Aviva Community Fund?

The Aviva Community Fund offers you the chance to get funding for causes important to your community. It’s open to everyone, whether you have a connection with Aviva or not. We want you to enter a project for your community and tell us what a difference these funds could make. Get enough votes from friends, family and supporters in your community and your project could make it to the Finals, where a judging panel will award the funds.

We are asking for funding to create some new outdoor seating for the children. On the website we have stated:

Our project is to install benches and create tranquil areas within the playground - seating will be installed under trees and within a sensory garden and a shrubbery that we are creating. These will benefit children who need a calm place away from the hustle and bustle of playground activities, those who need to isolate themselves for a while, somewhere to view another activity or just to chat. They will be great spaces for one-to-one or small group work, not to mention providing additional seating for parents and carers at the beginning and end of the school day.

Bannockburn Primary school has been expanding from 1 1/2 form to 4 form intake, with initial financial focus necessarily being on remodeling a former secondary school building and constructing an annexe. We are now able to concentrate on improving the grounds and are fundraising accordingly.

We have an excellent reputation regarding our approach to special educational needs and consequently have a higher than average percentage of such children on our roll. Amongst these pupils are those who do not cope well with large crowds and noise. These seating areas will provide calm and tranquil spots for these children and also children who may need to seclude themselves for a while. They will provide pleasant areas for children to chat. During good weather, pupils and adults alike enjoy engaging in one-to-one and small group learning activities outside, so such seating will mean that this is not limited to one group at a time. The benches will be ideally positioned so that users can observe nature close-up. The raised shrubbery lends itself for viewing and waiting turn at the table-tennis tables. The project will provide work for a local joiner/carpenter, further benefiting the community.

To help us, we need as many members of the local community go to the link below and give us your vote. It is free and easy to do. The more votes we receive, the greater chance we have of gaining much needed funding to help improve our outside learning environment for the children.
