We are enjoying our new topic and learning about the rapid changes that took place during the Victorian era. In History this week, we placed our previous historical topics (from Years 1-4) on a timeline and then discussed what we already knew about the Victorian era. Some of the questions the children want to find our during this topic are:
- why were schools so strict?
- why did Queen Victoria marry her cousin?
- which countries were in the British Empire?
- what was this used for (a replica Victorian tooth extractor from the topic table!)?
- were children happy going to work in the Victorian times?
- would I have been sent to the workhouse if I lived in the Victorian times?
