Year 1 at the Planetarium
Year 1 had a lovely trip to the Planetarium in Greenwich on Tuesday despite the weather .The children were all excited to see the planets they had been learning about. A big thank you to all the adults who came to support the classes on the trip.
Year 5 Reward Trip to Hamleys
On Monday 17th December, 13 children from Year 5 were selected to attend this month's reward trip. We took the tube to Bond Street where we marvelled at the extravagant Christmas displays lining the streets. Then we walked down Regent Street to Hamleys Toy Store, where we were invited inside by a group of dancing elves!
Once inside, we took advantage of the interactive displays which included; fake snow, light up drones, magic bubbles, Lego Duplo towers and remote control cars. We also enjoyed looking at the Lego, giant cuddly toys and huge range of board games on offer. Niaz even met the (Lego) Queen!
Some quotes from the day include:
"This is the best store in the world!" (Michelle, Rowan)
"I hope my mum will bring me back here!" (Dev, Rowan)
"My favourite part was the magic snow - it lasts for 2 weeks!" (Ishmeet, Maple)
We are really proud of the children that were selected to attend the reward trip as they have shown fantastic behaviour in and around school. Keep it up!

Year 5 Sparkle Celebration!
Year 5 had a great time at their 'Sparkle Celebration' at the end of November. They shared extracts from the diary entries and biographies they had written about Guy Fawkes and showed art work that had been produced.
Everyone was then invited to take part in some art activities and lots of people enjoyed a hot chocolate topped with cream and marshmallows.
At the end of the evening, we gathered in the playground and lit sparklers together.
Some quotes from the evening included:
"This is the first time I have ever used a sparkler!" (Year 5 child)
"It was lovely recreating some of the art that the children have produced in their lesson." (Parent of Year 5 child)
"The marshmallows were my favourite part!" (Year 1 child)

National Young Mathematician Awards 2018
Good afternoon Team Bannockburn,
We hope you all enjoyed round 2 of National Young Mathematicians’ Awards 2018. We were super impressed by Bannockburn’s teamwork this round. They were able to carefully evaluate each other’s ideas and come up with a unified answer for each challenge. This challenge proved tricky for all of the teams (across the nation too!). It’s important with any similar challenges, that the team read the question very carefully. We would also suggest that, in the future, the team writes down all of their workings so that they can present and demonstrate their understanding clearly. Unfortunately, we are sad to say that Team Bannockburn has not made it through to the final this year. Nevertheless, we hope they all had a great time competing!
