Polygons in Year 2!

 This week, Year 2 have been learning about 2D shapes. We can name and identify 2D shapes and can now identify quadrilaterals and regular and irregular polygons. Take a look at us creating own own regular and irregular polygons below.

Year 2's explore living things and habitats!

In Science, we are learning about what living things are and what a habitat is. We learnt that there are 7 things needed for something to be a living thing, using the acronym MRS GREN to help us remember. We also learnt that there are many types of habitats and it must have all the things that living things need to survive. We explored forest school to see if we could find living things , things that have never been alive and things that used to be alive. Take a look at what we found!

Football skills in Year 2- Attacking and Defending!

 This half term, Year 2 have been developing their football skills. Over the past two weeks we have been learning how to stop a ball with control and then use this skill to help us learn how to attack and defend!

Acer Tree Mini Chef- Veggie Fajitas!

On Friday, it was Acer Tree's turn to take part in 'Mini Chef'. As a class we decided to make vegetarian fajitas. We all had a go at chopping various vegetables and even took part in bagging up our delicious wraps ready to sell after school!

Science in Year 2- Plant Pollination!

 In Science this half term, Year 2 are learning about plants! As part of our learning this week, Year 2 have learnt about how plants pollinate. 

In groups, we created flowers and bees and then role-played the process of pollination. We leant about key vocabulary such as, pollen, nectar, dispersal and pollinate. Here is some of our learning below.

Year 2 retell traditional tales

In Guided Reading , we explored a variety of traditional tales. We discussed what a traditional tales is and spoke about which ones we knew. We then read and retold our favourite traditional tales to our partners. Take a look below and see if you can spot any of your favourite tales!

Year 2- Food Technology- Battle of the Wraps- Day 5!

 Day 5

Day 5 was the final day and the day we made and evaluated our wraps!

We followed our designs, made sure we used the correct cutting grip when chopping our ingredients and then created our final product.

Once we had finished making our group wraps, we then tasted our product and evaluated it. We considered whether it met the brief, if it could be improved by adding different ingredients or textures and then gave it a score out of 5!
