Nepalese for November!

 Nepalese is spoken by many members of our school community, pupils, parents, teachers and support staff. Plumstead and Woolwich have a for many years had a rich history with the Nepalese community that continues to this day.

Premises Personnel are proud of our school

 The Premises Personnel team helped tidy up some spots at Manor Way this week. Firstly, we helped reunite some lost property items with their rightful owners by checking for names on items. Next, we went outside and helped sweep up some of the leaves that have blown onto our astroturf and into the gazebo. Finally, we wiped down some outdoor benches which had got wet from the rain. 

Mr Bradshaw was so impressed with the teams efforts that he gave out some house points to those who helped.

"I love doing things that help keep our school tidy and clean!"

"We are lucky we have a lovely school, so we need to be responsible and keep it tidy!"

French poetry appreciation: Chère frère blanc by Léopold Sédar Senghor

Bonjour tout le monde!

There has been lots in the news about the Black Lives Matter movement and I think at Bannockburn we do a really great job of promoting values like respect, equality, tolerance and fairness, as well as making sure everyone learns about diversity, equal opportunities and how society has changed through history.

Whilst doing some reading of my own, I came across this brilliantly thought-provoking French poem
calle Chère frère blanc or Dear White Brother in English by poet Léopold Sédar Senghor.

TFL Stars and Rights Respecting Schools Competition entries from Lemon Tree Class

Back in October children from Lemon Tree Class took part in the TFL and UNICEF Rights Respecting Schools Roundel Design Competition to raise awareness of children on the transport network and raise a smile amongst commuters on World Children's Day. 

With the winners of the London-wide competition just announced, whilst we didn't have any winners in, our top 3 entrants put amazing effort into their designs and so the Junior Travel Ambassadors and Rights Respecting teams would like to say a huge well done and thank you for their efforts.

Our School 'Eco Code'

This term the Eco Squad have been working with Mrs Seaton to plan and write an eco code that can be used across the school, to help remind everyone about the human race's impacts on the environment and promote our school values which relate to the environment such as Responsibility, Respect Kindness and Cooperation.

High Street Eco Squad members met with Mrs Seaton to discuss what key points should be included, then  the Manor Way Eco Squad team met to discuss those key points and turn the HS team's ideas into a final Eco Code that can be displayed all around school.

World Children's Day 2018- Take Action!

Today is World Children's Day: on this day, many people and organisations around the world take the opportunity to reflect on how we can improve children's access to their rights worldwide.

Unicef are leading a campaign to put pressure on world leaders so that they commit to making sure every child in the world has access to their rights.


"Children have their rights denied every single day. We want to build a world where every child is in school and learning, safe from harm and able to fulfill their potential, and we know you do too. It's time to put children back on the agenda.
