Year 5 English - Coral Ocean

In English, our model text is about two children who are new to a school who meet and become friends. Using the 'Give One, Get One' activity, we split our boards into 8 and then thought of two things to describe each character. After, we went around the class to gather some words that we had not thought about.

We then took part in a drama activity where we had to imagine that they are sitting in class, just after Mr Walker has sat them together. The children had to think about - what will the characters talk about and how will the conversation might sound. The children really had to think about what it would be like to be that character and focused on using their words, facial expression and body language to be that person.

Year 1 Investigating house building

Year 1 children read their new book today 'The Three Little Pigs'. They enjoyed visiting different classrooms and using different materials to make houses. Children used straw, wood and bricks (clay) just like the pigs in the traditional tale.

What other materials could you use to make a house?

Y3 Drama in English - Stone Age Boy

This week, Year 3 went to the Manor Way Forest School for the first time! All classes got to act out the moment our main character gets transported from a muddy path to a mountain top in our English focus text: Stone Age Boy. We really enjoyed using real-life props such as stones, sticks and boulders to add dramatic effect to this very important scene. We are looking forward to visiting our fantastic Forest School soon for more practical learning outdoors.

Aspen class showcase space hotels!

Today, Aspen class worked collaboratively in table groups to design their very own space hotel. Their features included gravity-free waterslides and exclusive planet tours.

Aspen class used persuasive language such as rhetorical questions and expanded noun phrases to convince their audience that their space hotel is worth a visit. If the weather is any better than London then perhaps its worth a go?
