This week in History, we learnt about the importance of Neil Armstrong and the impact he had on the world with his voyages. We took part in our own rocket launch and explored how this felt and discussed why it was a global event. We then pretended we were news reporters from all over word and presented our news reports to each other as if we were breaking the news of our rocket launches.

3, 2, 1, BLAST OFF!
Guess what we are learning about this term in Year 2 - SPACE!
Today, in Acer Class, we begun our learning sharing what we already knew about Space. Then we learnt to dance like astronauts and used crayons and paint to create our own space art work.
It was a fun day and we are looking forward to learning more!

Year 5 - Blast off into the Royal Observatory, Greenwich
Year 5 have been learning about Space this half term and went to the Royal Observatory for our first trip! We found out facts about the solar system in the planetarium. Did you know planet X doesn't actually exist?
Additionally, we walked around the Weller Astronomy Galleries and partook in a workshop, where we looked at the comparison of the earth, sun and moon. We found out that the earth is 4 times the size of the moon and the sun is merely a tiny star!

Yera 5 Linden Class - Stars in our Eyes - Visit to The Royal Observatory, Greenwich
This week Linden visited The Royal Observatory at Greenwich to find out more about the Stars and Planets for our Space topic this term. We learnt about this history of time keeping and the importance of the Greenwich Meridian Line in our world. We even got to stand across the Meridian line and hop between the Eastern and Western hemispheres! We also visited the Planetarium where we watched an incredible show teaching us all about astronomy, astrology and space exploration history. We also were fortunate enough to see some amazing examples of space photography - we found the images so interesting and inspiring! To infinity and beyond!........
