The children in Nursery had a fantastic time in their weekly music session with Mrs Manser this week. We changed our movement whilst listening to lots of different styles of music. We had to choose whether to do big or small movements and how fast or slow to move. Next, we listened to the Slow and Fast song and had to make sure we were moving at the tempo of the music. Lastly, we listened to some music and had to freeze when the music stopped. Our listening was fantastic!
This week in nursery, our pupils explored the wonderful world of plants! We learnt how plants grow from tiny seeds into big plants and even, giant trees. The children discovered the different parts of a plant, including the roots, stem, and leaves, and talked about how roots help plants grow by taking in water and nutrients from the soil.
The children then became little gardeners and planted their own cress seeds. They carefully followed the steps by placing cotton wool in a pot as soil, sprinkling the cress seeds on top, and adding some water.
Next, we placed the pots on the window sill so the seeds can get plenty of sunlight. The pupils shared their ideas and explained that plants need sunlight to grow, and without sunlight they would not be able to grow properly.
We are excited to watch our cress seeds grow over the next few days and observe the changes as our plants begin to sprout!
Our Nursery had a wonderful World Book Day!
The children arrived in their cosiest clothes, ready to snuggle up and enjoy some lovely stories. Our classroom was beautifully decorated with favourites like The Very Hungry Caterpillar, The Gruffalo and Peppa Pig, which made the day feel extra magical.
A special highlight was when our KS2 pupils came down to nursery to read with the children. It was so lovely to see the older pupils sharing stories, helping turn pages and bringing the books to life.
