And action! Bringing a warning story to life - Year 4

Today in English we explored our watery warning story – The Canal – for the very first time. We immersed ourselves in the story by reading it together, then we threw ourselves in the deep end by adding actions to a segment of the story that had lots of drama. We used simple, yet impactful actions to bring the story alive and also to help us remember each part of the text. To wrap our English lesson today, we took it in turns to perform in our groups. We watched and listened respectfully to others and gave constructive feedback so we could all improve.

Year 3 - Hot seating in English

This week in English, Year 3 have started our new spine book 'The Tale of Despereaux'. The story is about a courageous mouse who uses his differences to help others. After reading the story opener, we took part in role play to better understand the main character Despereaux. In table groups, we generated a list questions we could ask and then practised taking turns as either Despereaux or the interviewer. Some brave children then took to the hot-seat to be interviewed as Despereaux by the rest of the class!
