Pentatonic Scales and Improvising.
Year 5 have been using the xylophones this term to develop their improvising skills. They are using PENTATONIC scales (5 notes) and have been working within musical boundaries.
Today, they were playing back and firth in their pairs, improvising for 8 counts each and internalising the pulse.
They noticed that as time went on, the improvisations started to sound similar to each other as their ears tuned in to other peoples playing.
