During reading sessions this term, Year 6 enjoyed an online visit from one of their favourite authors, Katherine Rundell. Within the session, the children listened to her read some of her books; they also enjoyed hearing about what inspired her to write novels, as well as asking her questions.
This week, Year 2 have been exploring the similarities and differences between traditional tales and fairy tales in our Guided Reading lessons.
We have retold our favourite traditional tales, sequenced them and then learnt about the features of both traditional tales and fairy tales.
We finished off the week by exploring magical elements in famous fairy tales.

Over the next two weeks, Year 2 will be exploring poetry. Today we began our learning by understanding what poetry is and exploring how poetry takes on different styles. Using criteria, we then sorted examples of famous poetry.
In Guided Reading , we explored a variety of traditional tales. We discussed what a traditional tales is and spoke about which ones we knew. We then read and retold our favourite traditional tales to our partners. Take a look below and see if you can spot any of your favourite tales!
