Computing Year One

Children were introduced to the subject of computing. Last week they learned that about different types of instructions and the importance of giving them to a partner in the correct order. This week they learned about the instructions to make a Bee-bot toy move. They learned that a list of instructions is called an algorithm. Children really enjoyed exploring with the Bee-bots.

 

Colourful collage in year 1

Year One have enjoyed looking at artists inspired by nature this half term. This week they looked at the work of Brazilian artist Beatriz Milhazes. They discussed her use of colour shape and pattern. After that they used paper shapes to create a colourful collage inspired by her work.

 

Year 1 - Material World

In Year 1, children have been learning about objects, the materials they are made from and their properties. They have been exploring materials in the classroom, testing which objects are magnetic and learning new vocabulary like opaque and absorbent.
