Summer Reading Challenge!

Do you love to read?

Do you like a challenge?

Do you enjoy reading funny stories?

Then look no further! The Summer Reading Challenge is here!

The  2020 theme is Silly Squad celebrating funny books, happiness and laughter.

It is really easy to join! All you need to do is enter a few details through the website shown above.

Once you have joined, choose which Silly Squad member you would like to be and how many books you will challenge yourself to read this Summer!

If you do not have the book to hand, remember, you can listen to it through an audio book and your local library may have an initiative that allows to access their books.

You can earn badges along the way and the website even suggests books you may enjoy based on your favourite types of books.

There is also a chance to complete a book review for each book you read and there are plenty of activities and games you can complete and play, as well as completing your challenge!

This is a fantastic challenge to set yourself over the Summer!

Don't forget to share your achievements with us via the school email!

Year 2's Home Learning Heroes!

Hello again Year 2!

We are really missing teaching you in school but want to say a BIG thank you to all of the children who have been working on their weekly tasks.

You are all SUPER home learning HEROES!

Below are some of this week's completed learning tasks. We would love to share all of your tasks but there are sometimes just too many! Keep sending your work in and your teacher will email you a reply.

Aaila's Story

William's number bond work

We can see that William's comprehension skills are improving!

Aisha's been practising her tenses...

And answering our reading comprehensions too!

Millie-Rose's WANTED poster for the Gruffalo!

This pupil from Beech Class is practising her mental maths skills!

Chiamaka's Problem Solving in Maths

Shaun A was inspired and created his own WANTED poster!

Shaun also wrote his own story!

This pupil from Beech has coloured this rainbow!

Remember you can also try out our more practical home learning activities. One child from Sycamore Class has enjoyed instructing her brother from Year 6 around her obstacle course playing one of our blindfolded games!

I wonder if he made it through in one piece!

We are looking forward to welcoming some Year 2's back to school this week. Miss Bennett will be looking after you!

Speak to you all soon,
Miss Bethell, Miss Haigh, Miss Hoadley and Mr Voke

Please keep checking the school website for information around transition.

There will be various types of support for children moving within the school, as well as for those leaving for Secondary School.
