Reading Buddies in Year 2.

The week the children in Year 2 took part in their very first 'Shared Reading' lesson. Shared Reading is a fantastic and enjoyable experience, allowing the children to read with their peers and support one another with their phonics. Here are some of our children enjoying some afternoon reading time, sharing a variety of fiction and non-fiction texts.

Book Quiz

Congratulations to the winners of our Summer 2 book quiz! The winners of the Year 5/6 quiz were: Saanvi, Maya, Lhayang and Amelie. The winners of the Year 3/4 quiz were: Ishaq, Daniel and Rohit. The winners of the Year 1/2 quiz were: Maggie Rose, Collins, Sophie and Avnoor. Thank you so much for entering - we love seeing how enthusiastic you are about reading.

Pear Class (Reception) Library Trip

This week, Pear Class had another visit to Plumstead Library. We were met there by a librarian who read us two funny stories. We then had time to explore the library and choose books to read. We also swapped our library books for 5 new ones which we cannot wait to read in class!

World Book Day Fun!

World Book Day was a great success. Our 'rainbow readers' theme made for a very colourful day. We created human graphs outside to show which genres were the most popular. Here were the colours:

Red - adventure

Orange - mystery

Yellow - horror

Green - non-fiction

Blue - comedy/funny

Purple - fantasy

There were also lots of fun activities going on in classrooms on the day and during the week.

Thank you to everyone who purchased a book from the Usborne book fair on Tuesday. So far we have raised £509 to spend on books for the children at school! You can still order books here:

https://usborne.com/gb/partner/TurnupfortheBooks/ and by emailing laurasnicholls1@gmail.com.

Another thank you to everyone who purchased a book at the book swap shop on Thursday! This will be returning on a weekly basis - you can either bring in a book and swap it for a different one, or pay 50p for a book.

Thank you for your continued support and for a great week!
