Year 4 RE - Places of worship

Places of Worship - Year 4

This term in RE, children in Year 4 are learning about Christian places of worship. We have learned about some of the key features of a church and discussed some of their similarities and differences. We also discussed the reasons why churches in our local community look so different.

We learned about how churches have changed over time and learned about some of the reasons why modern churches are quite different to older, more traditional churches.

Below are some pictures of children placing the local churches on a timeline of when they were built, using their skills of inference and deduction.

 

Year 3 - Visit to St Nicholas Church

As part of our learning in RE, Year 3 visited St Andrews Church to look closely at the building, the windows and the various objects inside! 

Luckily, Father Andrew was on hand to answer any questions we had and to help us find some of the things we were looking for such as the font. 

The stained glass windows even inspired us to make our own back in the classroom!
