TFL Stars and Rights Respecting Schools Competition entries from Lemon Tree Class
Back in October children from Lemon Tree Class took part in the TFL and UNICEF Rights Respecting Schools Roundel Design Competition to raise awareness of children on the transport network and raise a smile amongst commuters on World Children's Day.
With the winners of the London-wide competition just announced, whilst we didn't have any winners in, our top 3 entrants put amazing effort into their designs and so the Junior Travel Ambassadors and Rights Respecting teams would like to say a huge well done and thank you for their efforts.

Year 2 - World Children’s Day
Today is World Children’s Day!
Together we thought about our rights as children and what makes each individual child special. We shared some things special about ourselves in class.
We thought about what a child needs to live a happy and fulfilling life. Below are some of the ideas we came up with.
What do you think children need to live a healthy and happy lifestyle?!

World Food Day 2018 assemblies brought to you by the Fair Trade & Healthy Eating Monitors
To recognise World Food Day on 16th October, members of the Manor Way Fair Trade & Healthy Eating Monitors Team led two special phase assemblies for our children. Their assemblies made us reflect on our fortunate lives and the fact our right to food is something we might take for granted; we were reminded of our responsibilities to eat healthily, not be greedy or wasteful and to show empathy to struggling farming communities and those who suffer hunger and malnutrition around the world.

On écrit sur les murs by Kids United - one of our UNICEF Rights Respecting songs!
As part of our singing assemblies we are learning the French song 'On écrit sur les murs' by pop band, Kids United. Here is their video and the song for you to join in with and practise - it's SO catchy!
Here is the link too: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VV5oVYVGfNc
From there, you can find the videos for all their other songs - they are great to sing along to and improve your French!

ShoeShare Fundraising Campaign for International Education Week
Thank you to everyone who bought in their old and unwanted shoes last week during our celebrations for International Education Week.
Both Manor Way and High Street had an amazing response and so the KS2 Fundraising Team had a very tough job of sorting through and counting up all the pairs of shoes!
Here is the final pile.. any idea how many shoes there are?
The grand total was 1040 shoes - so that's 520 pairs!
This is an amazing amount and so Miss Ansell, Mrs Britton and Mrs Ahrens would like to thank you for helping us raise money with Clarks and UNICEF to help improve children's education all over world.
