Year 3 Ancient Greece Immersion Day

To introduce our Ancient Greece topic, Year 3 enjoyed an Immersion Day where they learned about-

  • The origins of Greek healers and medicine
  • Ancient Greek clothing and used their design and technology skills
  • Why the Olympics began and they participated in different Olympics sports
  • Explored their drama skills by performing a Greek play

Year 3 Prehistoric art

As part of Year 3's Early History topic, they learned about cave art.

They explored unfamiliar artwork and identified shapes within objects to produce abstract sketches.

They used natural materials to create different colours and explored materials to create chosen effects.

For their final pieces they worked in groups to created large abstract images to display as if in a prehistoric cave.

Year 3 Ancient Greeks

On Friday 15th November, not only was it Children In Need, but it was also Year 3's Ancient Greece Immersion Day.

The children enjoyed using the VR goggles to explore what it would have been like to live in Ancient Greece; learnt about the origins of medicine and how they used natural ingredients that are still used today; discovered the origins of the Olympics and made wreaths and how catapults were used in wars and made mini versions.
