Year 4 - Roman Mosaic Tiles - Art

During our Art sequence over the Spring 2 term, Year 4 children drew inspiration from their Roman topic to explore the art of mosaics. They began by studying examples of Roman mosaic designs, discussing patterns, colours, and symbolism. Using this knowledge, the children developed their ideas over time, planning and refining their own unique designs before creating their mini mosaics using a range of materials. This sequence encouraged creativity, patience and attention to detail, while also deepening their understanding of Roman culture and artistic techniques.

Year 4- Pot making

In Art, we learnt techniques to manipulate clay and make our own pots.

Year 4- Immersion

To immerse ourselves in our new subject, we all did an art session where we explored mosaics, linking to the Romans. We looked at new, old, dull, colourful and created a mood board of ones we liked and used different media to add our own ideas.
