Mini Chef in Elm - Year 6

In Food Technology, Year 6 are currently learning about seasonal foods and whether there is a benefit to eating seasonally. They considered the availability of seasonal produce and food miles when planning and making a recipe.

Elm chose to make Indian Butternut Squash curry, with additional sweet potatoes and peppers.

Year 6 Mini Chef

This week, Elder Class put their fantastic cooking skills to use and worked really hard to produce a delicious dish to sell. When choosing what to cook, they considered seasonality and food miles before selecting a vegetarian Lancashire hotpot. Everyone who was lucky enough to buy a portion agreed that it made a fantastic and healthy meal. Well done Elder!

Year 2 Beech Class Mini-Chef

Who's hungry? WE certainly were after a long morning of cooking our chunky vegetable soup!

We practised our peeling and chopping skills and also learned how to de-seed a pepper.

Year 6 Linden - Mini Chef

On Thursday 5th December, Linden class made some delicious burritos for their Mini Chef. The whole class spent the day honing their culinary skills (including mastering the tricky art of the can opener!) and creating a mouth-watering feast.

Each burrito featured Mexican beans, spicy peppers, cumin rice, lettuce and cheese all wrapped up in a tortilla wrap. We all had a chance to try some of what we'd made before lunch; the verdict from everyone was very positive.

In the afternoon, our production line had to work quickly and efficiently as a team to get them all rolled up!

Some of the class helped to sell them on the playground after school. They did such a good job that we sold out very quickly!

Mini Chef - Year 2!

Year 2 have enjoyed cooking healthy meals during our Mini Chef sessions this term!

So far Acer class has cooked butternut squash ravioli and Sycamore’s Indian Soup went down a treat last week! Mrs Curtis even helped in Cedar to cook a dish inspired by her Cyprus roots!

Look out for Beech Class’ Mini Chef this Friday. They are cooking a tasty vegetable curry!

The meals we cook are easy to follow and are of good value. Do let us know if you try cooking them again at home!
