Emerald House Frozen in Time

Today Emerald and Ochre Houses had their assemblies in High Street. Children took the time to share some of their achievements and celebrate their efforts.

In preparation for the Queen’s Jubilee celebrations, children practised their dance moves. As it is also Arts Weeks, Emerald House created a short video of children frozen in time during their routine.

Apple Class Artists

Art for Arts Weeks

The theme for our Arts Weeks this year is 'Wonderful World of Knowledge'

Apple Class have been given the subject 'Art'. To introduce the subject, we looked at various famous paintings and discussed what we liked and disliked about them. We talked about how there is no wrong or right in Art and how we can all have a differing opinions. It was also mentioned that Art is all around us and you can visit galleries to see lots of different Art all in one place.

Apple Class have started their own Art gallery within our classroom, celebrating our own pieces of Art using a variety of different media.

Apple Class Mini-Chef

 APPLE MINI-CHEF

Last week Apple Class in Reception showed off their chopping skills when preparing our vegetables for our Tomato and Vegetable Pasta. We cooked all of the vegetables together before adding the tomatoes. We were super excited to see all of the ingredients cooking together.

We hope you enjoyed it!

Year 4 Ash class - Visit the London Transport Museum

This term in Year 4 we have been focusing on the Victorians. To learn more about the methods of transportation used during the Victorian era, we visited the London Transport Museum. We were able to explore a restored Victorian omnibus, a tram, a steam train and a horse's carriage.

The interactive activities deepened our understanding of how the Victorians got around and who in society, could and could not afford them.

One surprise was finding out that rich Victorians were able to get a 'sedan chair' taxi around London. This was a real luxury - perhaps an 'Uber Lux' would be our modern day equivalent?
