3D shape activities in Year 2

This week we have been learning about the properties of 3D shapes. After recapping 2D shapes and learning about symmetry, we then created 3D shapes using nets. This helped us understand how many faces, edges and vertices there are in each shape. We went on shape hunts and did lots of practical work to learn about 3D shapes.

More Year 1 Home Learning

Maninder in Juniper tree class has been creating 3D shapes whilst at home.
Can anyone guess what this shape is called?

If you would like to show us anything that you have been doing at home send it to:

Year 2 Sycamore Class - 3D Challenge

This week in Sycamore class we were set a maths challenge! We had to make as many 3-D shapes as we could using only marshmallows and sticks. We made pyramids, cubes, cuboids and even a hexagonal prism as a challenge!

3D shapes

This week Year 2 have been learning about the properties of 3-D shapes. In Cedar class we were told the properties of three mystery shapes and had to build a model of these shapes using marshmallows and cocktail sticks! We found they were a Cube, a Cuboid and a Triangle-based Pyramid! As a challenge we had to make a Triangular Prism!
