Movement in Year 2! - Maths

This week in Maths , we have been learning about position and directions. We learnt ways to remember our right from our left, such as the left hand makes an L. We defined what position , direction and movement means as well learning about clockwise and anti-clockwise. In pairs , we then gave each other instructions on what directions to turn to get to a specific spot. We finished off by playing a game using our new vocabulary  ; clockwise , anti-clock wise , rotation , quarter turn, 3/4 turn and half turns.

French in the Forest School

This week  Year 5 are taking their French lessons outside and used our Manor Way Forest School as their learning space.

As part of the lesson, the children took part in a Sentence Search, where they hunted high and low for French and English translations of different sentences. All sentences contained the verb Jouer (to play) but using different pronouns; the children said it was a fun way to discover and explore French conjugation for the first time.

Here are Aspen and Rowan enjoying their outdoor learning.

The Gardening Team spruce up Manor Way

This week the PLG group scheduled to meet and work with Mrs Seaton were the Gardening Team. With Mr Hanks' support and guidance, they planted some new plants in the recently empty flower bed at Manor Way, working in pairs to dig, plant and nurture their plants into the ground. The children also planted some sweet peas which they hope will grow prettily up the cane frames they helped construct. Finally they all took home their very own tomato plant which they are going to take care of.

What a wonderful way to get ready for National Gardening Week 2023 next week, when we will hopefully having more green-fingered fun across both sites.

Dino Digging in Reception

The children in Cherry Class are learning about Dinosaurs and we found out more about them through our fossil findings. We looked at who has discovered fossils in the past and practised being Palaeontologists for the day!

Science and the Senses with Year 1

In Science this week, we talked about the human body and labelled different body parts. We identified the five senses: sight, hearing, taste, touch and smell. We experimented with our senses and identified which parts of our bodies are used for each one.

Fraction fun in Year 3

This week we are learning all about Fractions! During this lesson, we were exploring the idea of a whole number and what a fraction looks like when we make a whole.

We used cubes of different colours to cement our learning.
