Year 6 Aspen Computing- coding

In our Computing session, we used Code Studio (an online programme) to play some games and tasks that teach coding skills. We had to write code to move something to a specific place on the screen, but some of the games have very difficult mazes to navigate through! we worked in pairs so we had someone to work with when the tasks got difficult.

"The reason I like Computing is because you can play different games to learn- it's really fun."

"The Code Studio games are hard- there are a lot of different ways you can do it so you have to test and try out different solutions. Some of them don't work at all! We worked together to find a solution that worked. "

Year 6 Aspen Arts Week - Open Evening

During Arts Week, we explored the art, music and culture of Mauritius. Drawing inspiration from the artist, Georgia O'Keefe, we used a variety of mediums to draw flowers and foliage. We used watercolours to produce seascape paintings- our focus was on using a pale colour wash so we could build up colour gradually.

For the Arts Week Open Event for parents, we set up a skills workshop to teach people some of the watercolours skills we have developed. We even got to teach some of the teachers!

SPECTACULAR SINGING 2017.

On Monday 19th June, members of Year 5 and 6 choir took part in the annual Royal Borough of Greenwich Singing Spectacular. This year it was held at the Royal Festival Hall on the Southbank in central London.

We had a day of rehearsals at the end of the previous week where then children practised singing their harmony parts with the other schools for the first time, and also had to learn some new dance moves....

Uriel and Earl were great at doing The Fly and The Duck
On the day, we had an afternoon of rehearsals, then some time to explore the Southbank before an amazing concert.

Really well done to all the children!
