Year 4 - Maths
To support their learning on place value of numbers up to 10,000 and addition/subtraction, Year 4 have been using place value counters.
Year 4 - RE
Year 4 were lucky enough to have a parent governor come into school to speak to them about her daily routines as a Khalsa Sikh. Next week, we are learning about the Amrit Ceremony so our visitor spoke to us about the months leading up to her own ceremony. She also brought in some personal items relating to her faith and explained their importance.
Year 4 - RE
Year 4 enjoyed quick recall activity before home time to draw upon their prior learning in RE. The children did brilliantly at sharing their prior knowledge with each other and reminding each other of the religions they have learnt about so far, as well as sharing some facts about their own religions.
Year 4 - Science
Year 4 explored different states of matter by using their understanding of solids, liquids, gases as well as colloids and non-Newtonian fluids to classify substances such as jelly, ice and shaving foam. There was some fantastic scientific conversations happening and the children were able to write up their findings using focus vocabulary.
Year 4 - Trip to Creekside Discovery
To support their learning about rivers and to inspire their ideas for their 'Warning stories', Year 4 had the most brilliant time at Creekside Discovery Centre. Located next to Deptford Creek, the children first spent some time inside learning about the source and mouth of the River Thames and some of the artefacts that have been found in Deptford Creek that give us information about the history of the area. They then went on a river walk, experiencing the creek first hand. Some children were initially nervous, but all children completed the walk and had a fantastic first hand experience.
