Year 4 went to Bostall Woods this week to put their classification skills in action!
They explored the forest and found a variety of plants and leaves. They then used the classification keys to see if they could identify and name any of them.
We also discussed features of leaves and their purposes e.g. some leaves have spikes to deter predators.
Our favourite thing we saw were mushrooms! We discussed that they are a fungi and the network that runs under our feet and how extensive it is.
