This half term, Year 2 will be learning about health and hygiene within Science. To start off our topic, we have conducted an observation about how bacteria spreads. We have conducted this investigation by touching 3 pieces of bread with clean hands, dirty hands and hands in gloves. We will observe how the bread changes over the next few weeks and find out if soap really does help to slow down the growth of bacteria!
In Maths, we have are learning about addends (numbers that are added together) and the fact that they are commutative (can be added in any order) . In today’s lesson we used part part whole models and counters to help us understand how commutativity works. We then added 3 numbers using strategies (doubling, bonds to 10) to test our commutativity knowledge.
This half term, Year 2 Two's topic is 'Human Nature'. As part of our topic, the children will be exploring the human form within Art. We began our Art lessons this week by learning how to make letters of the alphabet with our body.
