Year 4 Ash - Plant adaptations

In science, we matched vocabulary and definitions explaining how plans have adapted to their surroundings. We worked in groups to order what we thought was the most important through to the least important adaptation.

KS2 Blackheath Christmas Concert - message from Chair of Governors

Dear Mrs Ford & Mr Smales,

 

Last night's concert was another musical celebration of a high order and a marvellous example of the thrill of hearing massed voices ringing with Christmas cheer in an imposing venue. The wonderful Hark the Herald Angels Sing with its joyful accompaniment was as memorable as it gets while the Coventry Carol in a very distinctive and powerful setting may have taken the children out of their comfort zone but was all the better for doing so.

 

Jingle Bells was performed with great gusto and a real jazzy feel. It was also a particular treat to hear the children perform in French in the beautiful song from The Chorus. I could go on but there were so many memorable moments to relish!

 

Please convey my congratulations to all the staff involved as well as the children. One appreciates the extent to which all colleagues involved were pulling together to make the concert a success, both beforehand and at the venue itself. And above all, the children did you proud!

Year 2 Sycamore - Road Safety Workshop

This week we learnt about Road Safety. We learnt how to cross the road safely and which crossings to use! We really enjoyed role playing lollypop

 men and women.

Year 2 Sycamore Class - Mini Chef with Sycamore!

This week Sycamore got to try out our cooking skills by making a delicious vegetarian pizza!

We made the pizza dough from scratch and used a number of toppings for a healthy pizza. Yum!

Trip to see the Mayor of Woolwich

A group of children from Manor Way went to the Woolwich Town Hall as invited guests as the Mayor of Woolwich. The mayor talked about his role within the local community and his thoughts about growing up in Woolwich as a boy and how proud he was to now be the Mayor of Woolwich.
