Music - SING UP

This week, Sing Up have a song of the week called ‘Raise Your Voice.’

It was written by Carrie and David Grant, who you might recognise of the Television

The song is all about positivity and setting yourself goals and ambitions. There is also a video of dance moves to learn!

Year 2's Home Learning Heroes!

Hello again Year 2!

Reception RB - Our Second Week in School

Reception RB have had another fantastic week in school. 

This week, we have been learning about 2D shapes in Maths and describing animal habitats in Literacy. 

We enjoyed using the geoboards to make 2D shapes with elastic bands. We counted how many sides and corners each 2D shape had. 

Then we used our knowledge of 2D shapes to build a shape snake just like the snake from the Gruffalo! Do you know where snakes live?

Finally, we wrote super sentences to describe the woods. We are remembering to use a capital letter and a full stop! Below are some of our amazing attempts at writing independently!

Bubble 1B get creative!

As we have had some lovely weather recently Year 1B decided to get creative and make some paper plate suns! As we did not have tissue paper to hand, we improvised and used card instead. Swap any of the materials for something alike if you do not have what you need.

Year One back at school - Group 1A

This week in Group Year 1A we have been very busy creating Art with different media and carrying out more Science investigations. 

We used chalks to draw pictures outside. 

 Following stepping stones to complete a journey. 

Look at this amazing train drawn by Nipsung. 

 We also used collage materials to create pictures. 

We designed our bookmarks and answered some questions about a bat fact file in Guided Reading. 

 We created a storm in a glass using shaving foam, water and food colouring.

Inspirational Art in 6A and 6B

Class 6A and 6B have been using Chuck Close as inspiration for their most recent art project.

Chuck close used individual squares of colour to create his masterpieces. When viewed closely, each square seems to be singular and abstract. However, when each square is pieced together and viewed from afar, the abstract squares form uniform, highly realistic portraits.

We started by distinguishing between light and dark tones and decided to use dark colours on the areas that need to be grey and bright, vibrant colours on the lighter areas.

Once coloured, we added texture to our square. We did this by drawing different types of lines and shapes, remembering to ensure the dark parts remained dark and the light parts were bright.

When we had finished, we pieced each square together to form the face of an inspirational person.
