Clay Mayan Stelas in Linden

This week in Year 6 we have been designing and making ancient Mayan stela using clay as our medium. We researched the history behind stela and then designed our own ones featuring patterns, faces and hieroglyphs. Then we got messy with the clay to create them, using the wire stands we also built to help support them and stand them up.

String instruments - Year 2

In Year 2 this week we have been making our own string instruments. Firstly, we made our instruments out of cardboard, elastic bands and paper. Then, we created stands for our instruments by making hinges so that they could stand up. See our instruments below!

Voila! - Year 4 present the world's weather in French

Last week in French, our topic of weather and the Francophone World cumulated in a French weather presentation. After planning our weather reports, we practised reading our sentences aloud and some even managed to memorise them. Then we stood up and presented our Francophone World weather maps to our classmates.

Printing in Year 4

Year 4 have been learning about the Colombian artist, Ana Mercedes Hoyos, who painted brightly coloured pictures of fruit.

Using her artwork as inspiration, the children in Year 4 carefully observed and sketched tropical fruits before finishing off our learning sequence with a print. 

The children had to decide what features of the fruit they wanted to focus on and think about how best to show texture using lines and dots. 

We think the prints have come out brilliantly and we hope you do too!
