Year 4 - Black History Month Assembly - Mary Seacole
During our Year 4 assembly this week, we learnt about Mary Seacole, a brave nurse who cared for soldiers during the Crimean War. Born in Jamaica, she used her own money to travel to the front and opened the British Hotel to provide warm meals, rest, and comfort. Despite facing racism and not always being recognised, her courage and generosity helped many people and left a lasting legacy. Our assembly celebrated Black History Month by highlighting kindness, resilience, and standing up for others, encouraging children to help those in need in their own communities.
