The following sections will feature in every issue and so we will constantly be looking for the following items:

World Food Day 2018 assemblies brought to you by the Fair Trade & Healthy Eating Monitors

To recognise World Food Day on 16th October, members of the Manor Way Fair Trade & Healthy Eating Monitors Team led two special phase assemblies for our children. Their assemblies made us reflect on our fortunate lives and the fact our right to food is something we might take for granted; we were reminded of our responsibilities to eat healthily, not be greedy or wasteful and to show empathy to struggling farming communities and those who suffer hunger and malnutrition around the world.

Fortnite #WakeUpWednesday

Message from The National Online Safety Team:

As part of our #WakeUpWednesday campaign, National Online Safety has teamed up with MusicAlternative to launch a Fortnite online safety song for your school to share with its whole school community!

Our song encourages parents and carers to "stay switched on" to online dangers when their children are playing Fortnite. We hope you love this video just as much as we do!

Please help us spread the message far and wide by retweeting our Fortnite song for parents & carers here:

VIP visitor: Peter Bakare visits Manor Way

Bannockburn was lucky enough to have a special VIP visitor last week! Peter Bakare, the Olympian volleyball player, visited our school to lead some special sponsored sports sessions. We had to work together as a team to encourage each other to be resilient- it was tough! Make sure you ask us about the exercises we did- we'd love to show you!

At the end of the day, we had a special assembly to hear more about Peter's amazing achievements- he inspired us to choose a goal we love and keep working towards it, even if we have some setbacks. His message fit with our school values- it was amazing to see how successful you can be if you show teamwork, effort and resilience.

Keeping Fit: Bannockburn Boot Camp

At the Manor Way site, Ochre House have been leading the way on our playground to encourage everyone to get moving and keep fit!

We all know that regular exercise is good for you, but how often do you really get up and get moving? Mrs Seaton and Ochre House are leading Bannockburn Boot Camp- a fun, fast, friendly ten minute session designed to get your heart pumping. Look out around school for the posters advertising the next lunchtime fitness session- see you there!
